After seventeen years of embodied experience navigating the childbearing continuum as the woman I am, I have learned a tremendous amount about nurturing maternity care and Black motherhood in the United States.

These days, everybody and their momma is saying: girl, you need a doula. But what you really need, is to know a lot of what a good doula knows. And as a Black woman in this country, you need to know what a good Black doula and Black mother knows. One whose gone through that, so you hopefully you ain’ have to go through that.
